Our dusky Kob or kabeljou is a delicious South African classic. The flesh is succulent and firm, forming large flakes, and there are few bones. It has no definite flavour, Small kob or ‘milk-kob’ such as ours have a more tender, sweeter flavour. Our Dusky Kob is the only sustainably sourced Kob species available on the South African market. Cooking
Defrost before cooking. We recommend that kob is a great candidate for a pan-fry. Do add some more flavour and crisp we recommend that you dip the kob portions in flour and sprinkle a fish spice of your choice.
- Melt some butter in an oven dish with some olive oil. Coat the kob portions in the melted butter and oil on both sides.
- Place kob portions in a non-stick pan at a medium and heat and cook until nicely browned and cooked through.
- Can be pair well with a side of roasted veg.

Just perfect
Kob is delicious and so versatile. Popped it in the air fryer in a foil parcel with butter, fish rub and garlic and squeezed some lemon over it when dishing up. Came out perfect!
