Total Time: 20 mins | Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 2 x sashimi grade tuna steaks
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp. black sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp. white sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
For Dressing
- Juice of 1 lime (or about 3 tablespoons)
- 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tsp. toasted sesame oil
- 2 tsp. freshly grated ginger
- 1 tsp. honey
For Salad
- 100 g rocket
- 1/2 Asian pear, thinly sliced
- 2 Radishes, thinly sliced
- 1 Persian cucumber, thinly sliced
Short Instructions
Step 1
Season tuna steaks with salt and pepper – cover completely. In a shallow dish, combine the black and white sesame seeds. Gently coat the tuna steaks with the seeds.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a medium pan over medium-high heat. Sear tuna steaks for 30 seconds to 1 minute per side in the pan, depending on desired doneness. We recommend keeping the sear to a minimum – almost making it a thin seasame and sear crust. Leaving the flesh beautifully deep red inside. Place on a chopping board to cool.
Step 3
To make the salad, whisk together the dressing ingredients in a medium bowl. Salt & pepper to taste.
Step 4
Combine all salad ingredients in a large mixing basin. Toss in the dressing gradually.
Step 5
Cut tuna into slices. To serve, divide the salad among plates and top with tuna.
