Beef and Onion Dumplings are a classic shui jiao (水饺), the boiled jiaozi found on family tables across northern China, where beef and onion is one of the most traditional fillings. Tender beef is mixed with sweet onion, cabbage and spring onion, then simply seasoned with sesame oil and white pepper, so the beef stays the star. Each 500g pack holds 26 to 30 dumplings, ready to cook straight from the freezer.
Serve them hot with Chinese black vinegar for dipping, and a spoonful of chilli oil if you like some heat. They're a hearty, no-fuss dinner that's easy to make on a weeknight.
