- 10-13 large butterlied & cleaned prawns per 500g pack
Butterflying the prawns not only makes them quick and easy to prepare but also allows for even cooking and enhanced flavour absorption.
- Red prawns are neither experiencing population problems nor overfishing. The fishery was undergoing a fishery improvement project in collaboration with MSC as of 2021.
- Red prawns are bright red when captured, as opposed to other types of shrimp, which are normally blue or grey when caught before turning pink.
For the best results, thaw prawns in the refrigerator overnight. Alternatively, place them in a sealed bag and submerge in cold water for 30-60 minutes, changing the water occasionally.
Grilling:
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Lightly brush the prawns with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and your favourite herbs or spices.
- Grill prawns, shell-side down, for 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the meat is opaque and slightly charred.
- Serve with a squeeze of lemon and fresh herbs.
Pan-Frying:
- Heat a tablespoon of oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the thawed prawns, shell-side down, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the flesh is opaque and lightly golden.
- Add garlic, chilli, or fresh herbs during the last minute for extra flavour.
