Please note:
- These mussels need to be cleaned and debeared. See below for a more detailed process.
- Consume within 4 days of harvested date found on box.
- Do not freeze raw. Please steam slightly before.
How to Handle
- Remove contents, place in an open container and cover with a damp cloth.
- Best before: use within 4 days of the harvest / packed date which can be found on the top of your box.
- Do not freeze produce, mussels can only be frozen after cooking!
- Do not submerge mussels in water, even during the cooking process. Just simply rinse them under the tap with cold water.
- You can draw from the product as you wish within 4 days of the pack date, that way you can enjoy mussel on more than one occasion.

How they are farmed?
The mussels naturally settle on long ropes suspended off anchored rafts. These ropes replicate kelp like tendrils and descend deep into the blue, drifting freely in the ocean currents.
After 12 months of mother nature performing her work, we haul our ocean harvest from the depths, producing the world’s finest oysters and mussels.
SALDANHA BAY
Pristine waters fed by the icy, nutrient rich Benguela current, provides some of the finest growing conditions in the southern hemisphere. These conditions directly Influence the flavour of our products. To many, this natural deep-water site produces some of the best oysters and mussels and is home to almost all oysters & mussels Farmed in southern Africa.

Your product will delivered in a polystyrene cooler box, which is use commonly in the seafood industry to maintain temperature and more importantly quality. This helps ensure a seamless, cold-chain delivery process.

As always packaged and delivered beautifully and really clean on the outside. Apart from debearding no prep needed. quickly steamed over a mirepoix of carrots and leaks they were soooooo good. But some were definitely fresher and plumper than others. Will order again

I ordered the 2kg box of mussels and on the day of delivery I received a phone call from a lovely man (I can't remember his name unfortunately) from Caught Online who explained that the mussels they had in stock were not up to standard and that he would prefer to wait till the following day, when fresh mussels were arriving, and deliver my mussels then. I truly appreciated this thoughtfulness and gladly accepted his offer to postpone delivery for the next day. The mussels which arrived were fresh and delicious and I would happily order them again.
