Cooking

Our Hake Fishcakes go great with any one of our sauces, preferably our Tartar or Lemon Cream though. Cook directly from frozen.

Cooking Instructions:

Conventional Oven:

Preheat oven to 200C. Remove all packaging. Place fish cakes on a baking tray & bake for 25-35 mins or until fully cooked.

*Turn over halfway cooking.

Air Fryer:

Preheat air fryer to 200C. Remove all packaging. Place fish cakes in a single layer in the basket & air fry for 20-25 mins.

*Turn halfway through – let rest once cooked for 3 mins.

Sustainability

Deep-water Cape hake are a predatory deep-water fish with a modest growth rate. They can be found at depths ranging from 200 to 800 meters and grow to be 1 meter long after 14 years. Due to them being serial spawners with a high fecundity, they are more resistant to fishing pressures. According to the most recent stock assessments, stock levels are recovering and harvesting is at sustainable levels. The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has certified South African trawl caught hake as sustainable, and it will appear on the SASSI green list.
